Padilla Statement on Senate Passage of Bipartisan National Security Supplemental

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) issued the following statement after the Senate passed a national security supplemental funding bill by a bipartisan vote of 70-29, including significant funding for aid to American allies and humanitarian assistance for civilians in Gaza:

“I am glad to see the Senate finally come together to pass urgently needed aid for our allies in Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific. This aid comes at a crucial moment for Ukraine in their fight against Vladimir Putin’s brutality and for the stability of democracy around the globe. This package also includes vital humanitarian assistance for the innocent civilians facing an increasingly dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza. I urge the House to pass this critical aid as quickly as possible. And I continue to stand ready to work with my colleagues to address the ongoing challenges at our border and modernize our immigration system in a way that supports our Dreamers, farm workers, and other long-term residents of the United States who contribute so much to our country.”
