WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) released the following statement after the Senate passed a budget resolution that unlocks the process to quickly deliver emergency Covid-19 relief to the American people: 

“After 15 hours of debate and Republicans’ repeated attempts at ‘political gotcha,’ Democrats stayed focused and the Senate acted in the best interest of struggling families in California and across the country – setting the stage to pass bold, robust Covid relief as quickly as possible. Passing this budget resolution is a major step forward in delivering critical relief to families, small businesses, and state and local governments. As thousands of people continue to die each day, we must continue to act with the urgency this moment demands.”
