Standing with Ukraine

Dear Friend,

Like many of you, I have watched the brave people of Ukraine face Russia’s unprovoked and unjustifiable invasion of their sovereign, democratic nation. I was honored to have the opportunity to join Ukrainian Consul General Kushneruk at a prayer breakfast in Sacramento in support of the Ukrainian American community across the state. You can read my full statement on Russia’s invasion here.

I remain committed to coordinating with our allies to impose severe costs on Vladimir Putin, and to provide refugee and humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians fleeing Russian aggression. As chair of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, I am grateful the Biden administration heeded my call to designate Ukraine for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to protect Ukrainian nationals living in the United States. This followed a bipartisan effort you can read about here. Given the constantly changing situation, taking swift action now will prevent Ukrainians living in the United States from being forced to return to a war zone.

As I continue to monitor developments in Ukraine, we will work directly with the State Department and other federal agencies to assist constituents with casework. If you or your immediate family have been affected by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and need humanitarian assistance, please visit this page on my website. We will be updating this page as we get additional information and resources.

Thank you and please continue to stay safe,
