Health Care

Alex is working to guarantee quality, affordable, and equitable health care for every American. No family should face bankruptcy because of an illness or have to choose between making rent and paying for medication. In the Senate, Alex has prioritized addressing the systemic disparities that affect health care access. He is proud to support Medicare for All and is a champion for increased access to mental health care.

Alex was also a strong supporter of the Inflation Reduction Act, a historic agreement that extended Affordable Care Act premium subsidies and capped out-of-pocket prescription drug costs and insulin costs for millions of Californians on Medicare. As part of the American Rescue Plan Act, Alex worked to ensure that relief was distributed equitably in the state and secured nearly $1 billion for 175 community health centers in California to expand access to COVID-19 vaccines, provide ongoing testing and treatment, and ensure vulnerable communities had access to the care they needed during the pandemic.
